PADI Instructor Course 

The PADI Instructor Course is an intensive and transformative journey that equips passionate divers with the skills and knowledge to become certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors (OWSIs). This comprehensive program blends theoretical knowledge, practical teaching skills, and hands-on experience to prepare candidates for the responsibilities of teaching scuba diving at all levels. From mastering dive theory and refining teaching techniques to developing effective classroom management and conducting open water training sessions, the course covers every aspect of becoming a proficient and confident dive instructor. Under the guidance of experienced instructor trainers, candidates receive personalized feedback and guidance as they progress through the program, ensuring they meet the high standards set by PADI. Learn To:

​

  • Lead guided dives.

  • Assist with classes.

  • Give a dive briefing.

  • Conduct refresher training.

Pre Requisite:

​

  • PADI Dive Master Diver.

  • EFR Certified.

  • 14 days of class.

  • 40 logged dives.

  •  Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months.

What To Expect

Day 1-2: Preparatory Work and Orientation

​

  • Introduction to the IDC, PADI standards, and requirements for becoming a PADI Instructor.

  • Orientation to the course schedule, materials, and expectations.

  • Review of dive theory and skill demonstrations to ensure readiness for instructor-level training.

 

Day 3-4: Dive Theory and Knowledge Development

​

  • In-depth review of dive theory topics including physics, physiology, equipment, and decompression theory.

  • Practical application of teaching techniques and classroom management strategies.

  • Development of presentations for teaching the PADI Open Water Diver course.

 

Day 5-6: Confined Water Skills and Teaching Practice

​

  • Skill circuit practice and demonstration in confined water, focusing on teaching techniques and student management.

  • Practice teaching confined water skills under the guidance of instructor trainers.

  • Evaluation and feedback on teaching performance, with emphasis on effective communication and demonstration skills.

 

Day 7-8: Open Water Teaching and Rescue Skills

  • Open water teaching presentations for the PADI Open Water Diver course, emphasizing safety, student control, and skill mastery.

  • Rescue skills workshop focusing on effective management of dive emergencies and student supervision.

  • Practice scenarios to simulate real-life rescue situations and emergency response.

 

Day 9-10: Continuing Education and Specialty Instructor Training

  • Workshops on specialty courses and continuing education programs offered by PADI.

  • Introduction to specialty instructor training and teaching techniques for various specialty courses.

  • Practice teaching specialty course skills and conducting knowledge development sessions.

 

Day 11-12: Business of Diving and Dive Industry Overview

​

  • Sessions on the business aspects of diving instruction, including marketing, sales, and customer service.

  • Overview of the dive industry, career opportunities, and professional development options.

  • Practical exercises and role-playing scenarios to simulate real-world business situations.

  • Review of course materials and preparation for the PADI Instructor Examination (IE).

  • Mock IE scenarios and practice exams to assess readiness for evaluation.

  • Final evaluation by PADI Instructor Examiners during the official IE, leading to certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).

 

 

Throughout the IDC, candidates will receive guidance and feedback from experienced instructor trainers, as well as opportunities for self-directed study and reflection to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge of PADI standards and procedures.
